Natural Fibres

The problem of microfibres is widespread, but as consumers we have the opportunity to vote for the planet with our purchases. Shopping natural fibre garments like cotton, silk, wool, cashmere and hemp is better for the planet. Not only are these natural fibres not releasing micro-plastics into the environment, they are also not relying on the petroleum oil industry for their raw materials, as polyester does.

While 'growing' fibres for clothes is often water and labour intensive, the benefits of biodegradability (polyester takes between 20 and 200 years to biodegrade, while cotton can take as little as a month) when teamed with longevity in your wardrobe make natural fibres a more sustainable option for the planet.
