Mmaa Rita Basket is handwoven by local artisans on the border of Ghana and Burkina Faso.

Woven using traditional Ghanaian techniques, it has an open top and straps that will sit comfortably in the crook of your arm.

Mmaa Market Basket is robust enough to hold all of your groceries. Ideal companions for your plastic-free shopping trips, days spent on the beach or exploring new cities.

Crafted from locally sourced straw and vegetable-based dyes.

The Mmaa Rita Basket is approx. 24cm tall 14cm handles. The width may vary from 34cm across to 42cm across - size may vary slightly due to the hand-crafted process - this is not considered a fault.

Please email us if you prefer a particular size.

Sustainable Accessories

Mmaa bags are handwoven by local artisans. This sustainable bag has the below CONTENT sustainable fashion badges:

Handcrafted Badge - The artisans, part of a collective on the border of Ghana and Burkina Faso, take two to three days to hand weave each piece. Variations in design and pattern are a unique part of this process and not considered a fault.

Resource Innovation Badge - Straw is procured locally, reducing the carbon footprint. Vegetable based dyes are used and the weaving is all done by women in the collective

Charitable Badge - For each Mmaa bag that you purchase, a girl or young woman will receive a reusable sanitary kit (one pad holder, three washable pad liners, soap, six pairs of underwear and washing bag) that will help keep girls in school and help end the shame and silence around period poverty. Members of the collective have access to financial literacy training, sexual and reproductive health education and business support programs.
